The application of AI and emerging technologies in electrical engineering is explored from three perspectives: the protection of residential electrical systems against overvoltages, solar generation forecasting across different regions and climate conditions and, in a more experimental approach, the use of graph neural networks for storm prediction in Greater São Paulo.

He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Particle Astrophysics at the USP Institute of Physics and conducts research at Empresa Produtora de Inovações Tecnológicas Ltda (EPL), applying AI tools and machine learning and deep learning techniques to the analysis of lightning strike and atmospheric discharge data.

He has been working for over 25 years in the fields of networking, telecommunications, electrical infrastructure for technological systems, and security. He is the author of technical books and academic articles, with research focused on the application of artificial intelligence in critical environments and engineering systems.

Moacir Lacerda - Bachelor's degree in Physics from UFPE - Master's degree in Physicsfrom the Institute of Physics at USP - Ph.D. from INPE - Postdoctoral fellowship at IAG-USP - Internship at the University of Florida, Gainesville campus. He worked at engineering firms as a project coordinator and consultant in the field of lightning protection. He was part of the team that drafted the first version of NBR 5419. He was a professor at the Institute of Physics at UFMS. He is currently the CEO of EPL Empresa Produtora de Inovações Tecnológicas and YANSA SCIENCE Research and Development. He works with Fieldmill networks to issue falling object alerts in open areas (NBR 16785/2019).

Prof. Dr. Murilo Miceno Frigo is an EBTT professor at the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul, Três Lagoas campus, where he teaches courses in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Automation, and Control and Automation Engineering. He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from the Júlio de Mesquita Filho State University of São Paulo, with research focused on the energy transition and solar photovoltaic generation. He develops research and outreach projects related to energy efficiency, artificial intelligence, and data science applied to energy, renewable energy, and professional and technological education.

Prof. Dr. Fernando de Lima Caneppele is an Associate Professor III at the University of São Paulo (USP), Pirassununga Campus; a researcher at CCD-FAPESP/CISTEM (Center for Science for Development - Center for Innovation and Solutions for Energy Transition in Municipalities) at USP's Polytechnic School, a researcher at GEPEA/Poli/USP, an associate researcher at GESEL/UFRJ, and served as a sabbatical researcher at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA/USP) from 2024 to 2025. An electrical engineer with a master's degree, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellowship, and tenure in the field of energy, he focuses on energy from a nexialist perspective and specializes in Energy Transition, Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), and Artificial Intelligence applied to the electricity sector. His academic and professional career has been dedicated to the energy sector, contributing to research, teaching, outreach, scientific dissemination, training, and consulting.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Energy and Automation Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1997), a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (2000), and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (2004). He conducts research in the field of Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on Energy Planning and Energy Management, focusing primarily on the following topics: solar energy, energy planning, electrical energy, integrated resource planning, sustainable development, and energy management. Vice Chair of the Southern Section of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES).
